Please Register ASAP if you plan on playing hockey with OMHA this season (2010-2011). We need to declare teams in all divisions by late August and in order to do so we need to know how many kids are registered! Help us, help you.
The registration process should not take long and is self-explanatory. See below for additional information before you begin.

Initiation and Novice: $475.00
Atom through Juvenile: $595.00
NOTE: Females playing on two teams will pay $395.00 for the second team.
REP TEAMS:
Additional charges apply for Competitive Teams. If you indicate a Competitive tryout by signing up for any of the 'AA' teams then the additional fee of $50.00 will be charged to you.
VOLUNTEERING (AS A TEAM OFFICIAL):
The association cannot run without volunteers. Your help is needed as a “team official” including coach and assistant coach, team manager, safety personnel, executive volunteers and more.
Don’t be shy, any help you can give will be APPRECIATED and will help the KIDS.

IMPORTANT TEAM OFFICAL INFORMATION:
Please read through these requirements carefully. It is your responsibility to ensure that all courses have been taken and certifications have been granted and updated.
Introduction to Coaching:
Required to COACH Initiation and Novice level teams (5, 6, 7, and 8 years old). This course reviews leadership, communication, skill analysis, teaching methods, lesson organization, risk management.
Coach Stream:
Required to COACH Atom and older teams (9 years and above). Can be taken in a joint course called “Introduction to Coaching and Coach Stream” or on its own. This course covers leadership, communication, practice planning, role of the coach, teaching progression, teaching checking, game day preparation etc.
Development 1 Coaching Course:
Required to COACH Peewee level and older teams including BC carded players (i.e.: competitive levels). This course covers leadership, communication, drill design, introductory tactics, drill progression, checking, goaltender instruction, and seasonal planning.
Hockey Canada Safety Program (HPSC):
At least one adult from every team must have this course. Teams cannot play without a Safety person in attendance for EVERY game. The course is the same for all age of players and covers basic safety issues within the dressing room, on the ice, and in all areas that the team meets.
Respect in Sport aka “Speak Out”:
All team officials and anyone in a leadership position with youth or adult hockey players must complete the Respect in Sport course by December 1st of the current year. This course is designed as a tool to assist coaches in identifying and dealing with abuse, neglect, harassment and bullying in sport. The on-line course curriculum is broken into six (6), 30 minute modules taking 2.5 hours to complete and includes audio/visual presentations, quizzes and printable handouts. Another beneficial feature of the program is that it does not need to be done all at once, it can be completed at your leisure.
Criminal Records Check (CRC)
ALL PERSONS 18 years and older who have any level of interaction with minors at Oceanside Minor Hockey must complete and pass a CRC ANNUALLY. This includes: coaches, assistant coaches, team managers, safety persons, dryland coaches etc. CRC forms are available at the front desk of the RCMP office in Parksville: 727 W Island Hwy, Parksville, V9P 1B9, (250) 248-6111
